The Great Contributions of Betsy DeVos in Revolving Education and Other Sectors

Betsy DeVos is a renowned philanthropist and a political person as well. She is a member of the Republican Party. Betsy DeVos is married to Dick DeVos. The DeVos family is the 18th richest family in the United States of America, with a net worth estimate of about 5 billion United States dollars.

I greatly admire her philanthropic activities which are aimed a lot at improving education and ensuring quality standards in the sector. Other fields include healthcare, evangelism, among others. Betsy DeVos and her beloved husband DeVos launched a foundation for their philanthropic works. The Dick & Betsy DeVos Foundation, which was founded in the year 1989, has so far done a lot. In fact, I have realized that it was ranked as position 24th in the Forbes list of the Top giver in America. Read more about her philanthropy at MLive.

Mainly it’s worth noting that most of the contributions this foundation makes go to Christian organizations. Some of the organizations I have come across include The Baptists for Life, Action Institute, Center for individual rights among many others. I’ve noticed that between the year 1999 and 2014, the foundation donated about $5 million to charter schools’. Other contributions were directed to specific institutions such as Grand Rapids Christian High School Association which was given about $650 to $2,000. At the same time, Ada Christian School was also given about $148,000 in donations.

Moreover, Betsy DeVos is also the chairperson of the Philanthropy Round table. She also serves as the chairperson of American Federation (AFC) and the Alliance for School Choice. I find her interest in education to be amazing, she describes that her zeal to see other children also have good quality education having come from her visit to Potter House Christian School. At that age, she also had kids who were also going to school. From then up to now, I am happy that she has been able to support the school to become a safe environment whereby children can attend school and be exposed to endless possibilities. I’m personally baffled by the efforts of Betsy DeVos in the education sector. At one point, Betsy and her husband Dick DeVos were politically involved in the quest to amend the constitution to allow tax-credit scholarships. They tried all this in the state of Michigan. Although their campaign was unsuccessful, they never stopped, she started a committee called Great Lakes Education Project. This committee was aimed in revolving and also expanding charter schools in Michigan. Within a period of two years, the project was successful in Michigan from the year 2002. The success motivated her to make the project national. I give credit to Betsy for her great philanthropic activities and her efforts in improving the education sector.
